50 platforms, one scorecard

Crypto exchanges,
graded on what
actually costs you.

Millenex reviews the venues, wallets and data tools that people in this market really use. Every score comes from published fee schedules, custody arrangements and withdrawal terms — read on the platform's own site, then written up without the press release.

The ranking

Ten platforms, best score first

Scores are out of 10 and weighted towards cost transparency, custody and withdrawal reliability. A high score is not a recommendation to trade — it means the platform documents itself well and charges what it says it charges.

Ledger review: the best secure element, attached to the worst trust record

Ledger makes the best-protected consumer signing device you can buy, and has repeatedly demonstrated that the device is not the only part of the system you have to trust.

The hardware is excellent and the certified secure element is the strongest in consumer crypto. The company has spent five years teaching its customers that the threat model includes Ledger itself — a leaked customer database, a supply-chain compromise of its own library, and a recovery product nobody asked for.

Seven shelves, different questions on each

A custodial exchange and a browser wallet fail in completely different ways, so they are not scored against the same checklist.

What a score is built from

Four weighted blocks. Nothing is scored on a platform's own marketing copy, and nothing moves because a company asked.

  • Cost Published maker/taker tiers, spread markup on simple buys, deposit and withdrawal charges, and what the cheap headline rate actually requires.
  • Custody & solvency Who holds the keys, which entity faces the customer, what reserve evidence exists and how often it is refreshed.
  • Depth & execution Order-book liquidity in the pairs people trade, routing quality, and behaviour under load.
  • Getting out Withdrawal limits, fiat rails, documented processing times and the paperwork that shows up at the worst moment.
